Hi, I’m Alex Gribb. This is my second year at the USJ, and I’m a junior. If I’m not studying I will be doing Taekwondo or judging red carpet looks (Timothee Chalamet is ALWAYS best dressed). My favorite movies are Little Women (2019) and Pride and Prejudice (2005).

Students gathered in the Fine Arts Theater on Thursday night to watch Mr. Creek, a longtime Power Week tradition where male Creek students perform in a pageant-like competition. After battling against other candidates, senior Cooper Collins won the title of Mr. Creek in front of a sold out crowd. “It was very unexpected and kind of surreal. Any one of the candidates could’ve won Mr. Creek, and when they said my name I think I almost passed out,” Collins said. “I probably would’ve if the guys didn’t pick me up.”

July 2 – People crowded the streets of downtown Denver after it was announced June 24 that the Supreme Court had overturned Roe v. Wade. Colorados government is Democratic enough that it is unlikely we will lose abortion privileges, but surrounding states will largely face abortion restrictions and bans. I attended three protests, and despite the anger at the situation, the energy was hopeful that we could still fight back. – Editor-in-Chief Carly Philpott

On June 24, Protests erupted after the overturning of Roe v. Wade, a landmark case protecting the right to an abortion. In Denver, some protests faced pro-life counterprotesters from organizations in favor of the Court decision. One such organization is Protect Life Offices at Catholic Charities Denver, directed by Lynn Grandon. “[At Protect Life] we work to foster the understanding of there being value, worth, and dignity for every single human life at every age and every stage of development, using good common science and biology.”
