Hello! I am the Design Editor and a senior. This is my third year with the USJ and second as an editor, and it’s been the best! I love writing, drawing, and playing soccer, and I have a hamster, dog, and two guinea pigs. The most important part of my job is providing art and photography to express the importance of any story because – let’s face it – everyone judges a book by its cover.

After experiencing something as terrifying as sexual assault, it can be difficult to escape from the shadows that an assaulter leaves hanging over their victims. While it's true that time heals, I've found time only made me push down my anxiety until it was smothering me. Taking time is certainly part of the healing journey but seeking help and someone to talk to can do the most help.

Books and literature often provide deeper context for historical knowledge. At Creek, many teachers choose to teach books that introduce difficult discussions about race in American history.

Spoilers have been around for as long as I can remember, and I’ve never been a fan of them. I’m not alone, either, since 64.8% of the USJ Instagram followers I surveyed agreed that spoilers suck. Even if we can’t stop them, there are measures we can take to prevent or at least slow them down.

A MIXED UP DESK AND A MIXED UP WORLD: School and home are scrambled together during the crazy Monday schedule at Cherry Creek High School. I didn’t have time to distinguish between what should be lunch yet is a completely different class. I didn’t have time to put away my textbooks for the next class as I got hit with five classes in a row. I’m not the only person who suffered at the hands of the new hybrid model.

In a remote learning environment, it's a lot easier to break the rules. Students are calling their friends over Discord, FaceTime, and other platforms during school hours. Since students aren't in an environment where teachers can see their every move, they're using the opportunity to socialize.

It's nothing like it used to be. With new COVID-19 restrictions at football games, the players are seeing a change in the atmosphere. "We kind of hype ourselves up instead of having the fans there and other noises to kind of help us get ready for the game," sophomore, varsity football player Blake Purchase said.

Madison Seckman's remote learning space - previously just a laptop to game on - is now a mess just like remote learning. Everything is pilling up, and it is hard to keep track of and make time for school assignments.
