I have always LOVED Lil Peep, and for his new album “Lil Peep: Part One” I was expecting to absolutely love this album and it didn’t disappoint…
Lil Peep was a leading figure in the evolution of emo rap and inspired many other artists and fans. He influenced other emo artists like My Chemical Romance and Panic at the Disco. At the time he was an inspiration to youths, due to his bewildering voice and deep lyrics.
I would completely break down to this album if I was listening to it at 1:00 AM. The beats were soooo good, you could catch me tapping my foot or shaking my head. The first time I listened to the album I added three new songs to my main playlist; “five degrees”,“the way i see things” and “high school.” I added them because they had the best beat and just overall reminded me of some of my favorite songs by him. They also had an amazing intro, and made me love them more.
This album is a remaster (remastering an album means it improves the quality of the original album) because Lil Peep sadly passed away in 2017 at the age of 21 from an overdose accident. This was very monumental at the time, he was a rising star and his fans truly loved him. I don’t remember his passing very well because I was eight years old, but I know some fans were hit hard by his passing. All of the money from this album goes to his mom, which is a good way to still stream his music and let him rest easy.
Otherwise, this music really hits the heart, and if you heard one of the songs at 3:00 A.M you would get crushed. My favorite songs are definitely “five degrees” and “high school,” they both gave me a great first impression, like if I heard it in public I would 100% shazam them. In “five degrees” his voice is just really serene, it just calmed me down. I really connected to the lyric “You can see it in my face, so I wear my hood, Feelin’ like it’s five degrees tonight,” which just connects to Lil peep and most of his listeners as well. The transitions from verses to chorus is really stunning and just blends in super skillfully.
In “highschool,” I’M IN LOVE with this intro. I love the background sounds, when he added “skrrt” in the background it quite literally made the whole song. “You used to love me then, I know it’s not the same. But this is not the end ’cause everything gon’ change,” this lyric hit home, and made me loveeee this song.
The only song I didn’t like on this album was “its me”. I just didn’t like the beat that much and it was kinda a boring song, I wouldn’t cry to this song. At the end it gets repetitive and honestly makes my head hurt.
All of the songs in this album sound so similar but different at the same time. If you listen to the song really hard you can hear the difference in beat and tone. But even if you hear one little snippet of these songs you will know it’s Lil Peep. He always sang about his pure emotions whether they were anger, sadness, heartbreak, or depression. When he was alive he shared everything with his fans and this album really shows that.
Lil Peep has some bangers like, “castles,” “star shopping,” “your favorite dress,” and “feelz.” Most of these songs on this album can compare to them. “Five degrees” is the best song on this album and I will forever stand on that.
As I keep listening to this album I keep falling in love with more songs. Seven new songs have been officially added to my “bangers” playlist.
