Cooking Spam Musubi allowed ALO to help club members learn more about different cultures while also having a fun night together as a club. “One of the biggest ways that people who are of different cultures understand each other is through food,” senior and current ALO co-president Tanishqa Puhan said. “I think I’ve learned more about different countries by eating their dishes than I have actually talking to someone from there.”

July 2 – People crowded the streets of downtown Denver after it was announced June 24 that the Supreme Court had overturned Roe v. Wade. Colorado's government is Democratic enough that it is unlikely we will lose abortion privileges, but surrounding states will largely face abortion restrictions and bans. I attended three protests, and despite the anger at the situation, the energy was hopeful that we could still fight back. – Editor-in-Chief Carly Philpott

New chess players can also learn and play online on sites like chess.com. “For online chess, I would say that it has been really great to see how a lot of people who were not particularly interested in chess a few years ago are now interested in it, so that's really cool to see,” Bhavikatti said. “Hopefully with this online kind of chess wave we can see more people playing on sites and getting more involved in the game.”

Because Morris has synesthesia, he associates colors with other topics such as the days of the week, yet he does not feel the need to color coordinate what he wears with those colors. “I don't feel like I need to color coordinate at all because it's not really about [how] I have to match the color,” Morris said. “It's just that when I think of Monday, I think red.”

A school lunch last Friday. The carrots were served in plastic bags, and fruit and vegetable options were served without plastic trays. While it was unclear whether or not this was due to supply shortages, it was a sign of how school kitchens are being run differently due to shortages in staff and supplies. Cherry Creek School District is facing a shortage of kitchen staff workers, yet despite this shortage and an increase in students needing meals, every student that has needed a meal has been able to get one. “I’ve yet to have anybody say that they weren’t able to get a meal,” said Kim Kilgore, Director of Food and Nutrition for Cherry Creek School District.
