Varsity boys’ basketball crushed Boulder High in the Bruins’ season opener on Tuesday.

After losing six seniors, the team faced an inevitable roster turnover placing three sophomores on varsity. This first game of the season was the team’s debut after the shift in players. Finishing 24 points ahead of Boulder, Creek won 73-49.

Fans got a good look at the standout sophomore guard Julian Hammond who scored 20 points.

They also got a chance to see junior point guard Sebastian Cole who scored 12 points and did a great job creating opportunities for his teammates, dishing out 6 assists.

The Bruins’ maintained full court press for the majority of the game. Starting out with man-to-man defense, they switched to a zone press leading to multiple turnovers and fast-break points.

This year’s Bruins look to be a very quick and athletic team. What they lack in size they make up for in agility.
