The Varsity Boys’ Soccer team brought home their first win of the season on Tuesday in a match against Columbine High School. After a tense, scoreless first half with a strong defensive showing, Creek closed the game with a score of 3-0.

This win comes after weeks of preparation through training camps and tryouts. Beginning pre-season in mid-July, all interested players participated in six ‘Kick Around’ training programs. Incoming and existing members of the team were led in activities by the three team captains, seniors Reed Schneider and Alex Hightshoe, and junior Robbie Bailey. For varsity, tryouts were held Aug. 8-12, where the members for the twenty-two player team were decided.

The soccer team holds an eleventh place power ranking as of Aug. 22, according to CHSSANow. The team competed last year in the State Championships until they lost a game against Fossil Ridge in the first round. After their first win of the season, the team is on their way to competing in the State Championship in early Nov.
