SNL is basically the Super Bowl for lonely theater kids. We’re the fans cheering wildly in the stands, the writers are the coaches, Lorne Michaels is like the quarterback, the cast is the other thing, and the cue card guys are… this analogy doesn’t work. Since our stone cold father is going into retirement soon, this is my formal audition to not laugh at anyone’s jokes and sit in auditions like I’m bored. Someone recommend me to NBC, because I can be the new Lorne Michaels and choose the next generation of SNL talent.
Celeb Heron
I first heard of Heron on Sweethearts, a rom-com about best friends in their first year of college with their long-distance high school sweethearts. Heron plays the role of Palmer, a childhood gay best friend trying to find a way in a big city that doesn’t accept him. In his podcasts and many others he doesn’t fail to play this role. Heron grew up in Missouri and brings a lot of his southern charm to his humor. He’s hilarious on stage and a great actor. I would love to see him on SNL’s fast paced sketch comedy.
Grace Reiter
Reiter is a queer-adjacent, theater kid-adjacent comedian who’s most popular for her work in the American High TikTok. Her first theater show since she moved to New York at the end of 2024 was Ginger twinsies, where she plays multiple roles, most notably Chessy. Reiter reminds me a lot of Kristen Wiig, unafraid of being strange and drastic, willing to take the best idea even if it’s embarrassing. She recently starred in the short film “Spooners”, and I would love to see her on SNL to see her with detailed characters like she did in the film.
Vic Michaelis
I have been smitten with Michaelis since the moment I saw them on College Humor’s show “Game Changer.” They have this energy that there is always something they are hiding from you, like a stressed-out housewife. They truly harness the energy on the show they host called “Very Important People”, an improv show where Michaelis interviews people that just found out what kind of elaborate makeup they are put in and must improv a character on the spot. I would be interested in seeing Michaelis on SNL because of the improved budget. They have so many interesting ideas that make a smaller company like Dropout just impossible to do, but NBC’s infinite amount of money it is allowed to put into SNL would make their stories so much more complex.
Kimia Behpoornia
Behpoornia is part of the Upright Citizens Brigaded. Located in LA and NewYork and created by some of my favorite actors and comedians, every year the UCB pumps out just the most hilarious people- Kate Mickinon, Donald Glover, Jason Mantzoukas. I swear the UCB is just a company meant to make pregnant people immediately go into labor, so there is no surprise that Behpoornia is hilarious on stage and has such a range. From being able to convincingly act like a nervous teen in the comedy improv special Ally to Zacky, to a confident French doll in Very Important People, I would just want to see her on SNL to see her more.
Ify Nwadiwe
I can’t even describe my love for Nwadiwe. He is ridiculously funny and he knows it, which makes it so much better. He will make a joke and just wait for the laugh that always comes without fail. Nwadiwe wrote for the first season of ‘Twisted Metal’, so there is an understanding of NBC’s darker humor, but then again that isn’t a surprise. He makes controversial jokes, with his comedy group ‘The Big Team’, and yet he does the line insanely well. Even if Nwadiwe didn’t manage to make the cast he would be such an addition to the writers room because of his unique sense of humor.
