Trump won the election. And I, for one, have never felt more misrepresented. I have never felt more as a non-binary, queer, and person with a uterus, that my opinion doesn’t matter. So, welcome to the next Hateful Eight where (unlike The Washington Post) I don’t take bribes and keep my newspaper credible.
1. Trump’s “Rigged Election”
When I really sat down to watch Trump v. Biden debate, it was nearing its end, and one of the last questions was to Trump about whether or not he would accept the outcome of the election. He dodged the question THREE TIMES, and it only ended when Biden and Trump started fighting like old cats in the middle of the interview. “But IV, that doesn’t make any sense. The election happened and I never heard him complain about the voting process.” Maybe, dear reader, Trump was only ever going to use that excuse if he had lost the presidency, and he wanted to have a plan B to keep up appearances.
2. Pennsylvania
This is a special message to my special little swing state and all the people in it that voted for Trump. Your votes matter, but I also hope you know about all the peoples lives you are ruining by voting for an old, grimy, rapist, and felon. Please, for the love of god, get off Twitter and have a conversation with a woman that isn’t the Meta AI that you flirt with to feel better about the fact that you are scared of vaginas.
3. Third Party Voters in Presidential Elections
I think third party voters are important… in smaller elections. But the only kind of people I have met that voted for a 3rd party were people that didn’t want to vote for a rapist or a woman of color. There is absolutely no reason, especially in this election, not to vote for Harris, unless you genuinely agree with what Trump is saying. Just because Trump is an extremist right-winger doesn’t mean that Harris is a leftist extremist. She just isn’t. You are NOT on the “right side of history” just because you voted for a candidate that in the end DIDN’T AFFECT THE ELECTION.
4. Kamala HQ Instagram
Don’t get me wrong, if I were of age I would have voted for Harris, but “Kamala HQ” on Instagram does not do her justice. Most of the posts look like propaganda posters, and the most glaring one is a split screen comparison. On one side, a beautiful picture of Harris being an icon, and the other side is Trump looking like someone just told him what a pronoun was. These kinds of posts frame the picture that you should vote for Harris because Trump is worse, rather than the idea that you should vote for Harris because she’s good.
5. Book Bans
I am a creative writer, so any policy passed to ban books resonates a little too hard with me. I understand why maybe “Ice Breaker” isn’t something I would want my elementary schooler reading, but in no way should a book titled “Heather Has Two Mommies” or “And Tango Makes Three” be banned. People saying “My kid would just be so confused,” are just wrong. I grew up in a church where half of the congregation was queer and I didn’t bat an eye. I was just annoyed when my Sunday school teacher told me that Jesus’s prophets were human color, and I couldn’t color them in ROYGBIV style.
6. Transphobes
Do I really have to say anything? Just go away. You’re like a friend who comes over in the middle of a hangout session and just makes everyone uncomfortable for being there. Wow, you’re into discrimination… girl get in line. Your balayage nonsense needs to stop going to Taylor swift concerts and actually get some political education that isn’t from Fox News.
7. MAGA (Make America Great Again)
Genuinely just the idea of MAGA is so redundant. The entire point that those politically intelligent founders, however old and misogynistic, tried to make by writing the Constitution was that it should be changed. Over time, the American ideals and ideas ARE SUPPOSED TO CHANGE. Just because you’re a straight white cisgender man who has the privilege to debate my own autonomy in front of me, doesn’t mean you have to. It’s not playing devil’s advocate if you’re the devil!
8. Our Future President being a Convicted Felon
How will America even come back from women believing the only way to get their rights back is by having a 4B Movement? A 4B movement is where women have to fight for their rights by having no relations with men, therefore dropping birth rates. WE ARE USING TACTICS THAT WOMEN IN COUNTRIES THAT ONLY REPORT 13.2% OF ALL SEXUAL ASSAULT CASES USE. Maybe, and this is just a thought, when women talk about how they would rather be in a forest with a bear then a man, we DON’T VOTE IN SEXUAL ASSAILANT FOR PRESIDENT.
