The moment I feel a chill outside and the date hits October 1st, I am always beyond excited. Someone might think it’s weird that I’m happy to battle the cold, but that’s okay because it means it’s finally fall! So in honor of this wonderful season, here are some of the best fall activities to do.
8. Corn Mazes: This fun activity can be fairly difficult, but super fun if you go with a group of friends. I went to one last year at Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms, and while I did get lost, I still had an amazing time. Personally, I found it to be enjoyable during evening time because the setting makes me feel calm, and I loved the vibes.
7. Pumpkin Patches: This is a thing to do with your friends if you guys want to go outside on a chilly fall day. The size of some of these pumpkins are pretty huge, and you may even end up picking one to use for your Jack-O-Lantern. Although I haven’t been to one myself, I have heard good things about them, and would love to go to one this year. After looking online, a highly recommended local pumpkin patch located in Parker at Lone Creek Farms.
6. Roast Marshmallows or Make S’mores: I love making S’mores every fall, not only because they taste good, but also because they are super easy to make. I personally really enjoy eating them by a fireplace. You can make them a bunch of different ways, like microwaving them or in an airfryer. While you can enjoy these year-round they really just hit different on a fall evening outside with your friends.
5. Jack-O-Lanterns: Jack-O-Lanterns, also known simply as pumpkins, are fun decorations many people put outside their houses for fall. It is a super easy and calming activity that lets you unleash your creativity. You can find pumpkins at a local grocery store near you. I carve these every year with my family and always put them on my porch. Personally, to make these I like using a pumpkin carving kit from Walmart to scoop out the guts first then use a knife to make my design.
4. Football Games: Creek has some pretty awesome home games and I personally think they are a fun experience. While many people have been to at least one, if you haven’t you definitely should. Other than watching the game, it’s fun to hangout with your friends and do all the other little activities they may have alongside the game.
3. Scary Movies: If you’re not feeling up to go out, an easy thing to do is watch scary movies. I find this activity to be the most fun when I’m with my friends, but it’s also enjoyable while alone, probably even a little scarier. Whether you’re someone who gets frightened easily or not, there is a wide variety of scary movies to choose from based on your mood. A personal favorite of mine is “The Fear Street” series because of the funny aspect of it as well as how the horror is incorporated.
2. Haunted Houses: A super fun idea, if you are brave enough to try, is haunted houses. Haunted houses will normally have scare actors, and people usually go to get in the Halloween spirit. A great local one I went to last year is the 13th Floor Haunted House, which I definitely recommend. It costs around $29- 35 depending on the month and day one decides to go. Unfortunately it does have an age limit, kids 12 and under cannot participate.
1. Halloween: Number 1 on the list, an all time favorite! Halloween is the first thing I think of when I think of fall. I’ve been celebrating the classic tradition for as long as I can remember. Its origins can be traced back to an ancient festival but is now commonly celebrated by little kids all around the world to go trick or treating. Older kids usually go to parties instead of trick or treating, but either way it is a fun excuse to dress up.
