Sports Signing Day for Fall 2021 saw 18 Creek athletes from 9 different sports officially sign with their colleges
November 21, 2021
The hard work of many Creek athletes is paying off in a big way.
On Nov. 10, many Creek athletes took the next step and signed to their colleges.
As athletes sat down and signed their letters of intent, the gym, full with relatives and friends, erupted for the athletes as they began a new chapter in their athletic and academic careers.
The athletes were equally as excited as their friends and family to be able to sign and pursue the college and sport of their choice. They were all elated to be able to enter their respected universities, for multiple reasons.
Elizabeth Brock’s hardwork in and out of the pool has sent her to the Ivy League, as she has committed and signed to swim and dive at Harvard University.
“Harvard went above and beyond to make sure I could fit in with the team,” Brock said. “I really wanted to go somewhere where I could be challenged in the pool and the classroom so it was a perfect fit.”
2019 and 2020 Gatorade Athlete of the Year, as well as a State Champion in 2020, Riley Stewart is taking her cross country aspirations to Stanford University. Stewart has been consistently one of the best runners in the state throughout her high school career.
“Signing on Wednesday was just amazing,” Stewart said. “It’s one thing to say that you’re wanting to go there, but to be officially going there now is an amazing feeling.”
A two sport athlete in cross country and track & field throughout high school, Addie Laughlin has decided to continue track & field at the University of Wyoming. Wyoming had many aspects that Laughlin found appealing to her needs.
“It was really exciting. I’ve just worked really hard for it.” Laughlin said, “The coach is really awesome. The team and the facilities…it’s pretty close to home, so it’s a good fit.”
Asher Nofziger is taking all 6’7 of himself to Colorado College to continue and pursue college basketball.
“I think my best memory would have to have been my freshman year basketball experience.” Nofziger said. “ Because that was the first time I’ve been part of Creek for real and that’s when I made a lot of my really good friends from high school… We all played well together.”
These four and many others took the next step and signed to various colleges.
