8th Graders
Middle School Correspondent Program
This program is still under development. The program and outreach will officially open in early 2025.
For the first time ever in 2024-25, eighth graders who will be attending Creek next year are able to join the Journal! This program will connect you with students from other middle schools and older students. Additionally, you’ll have a head start going into high school with an extracurricular you can continue with until you graduate. High school can be daunting, but knowing people going in to it can really help.
Eighth graders in this program will have very relaxed requirements, but can complete as much work as they’d like. They will be required to attend once-monthly meetings and are welcome at all weekly club meetings on Thursdays. Middle schoolers will report on events at their school as well as at Creek, write opinions about their passions, and learn writing and photography skills for the future. Their articles will be posted on the official website. The program is run by our outreach coordinator, Peter Philpott, who will work closely with the eighth graders during meetings to teach them techniques.
Eighth graders must fill out a short application in order to join, but we don’t expect the cap the program at any number of students – this is just to get an idea of who’s interested. You can also follow us on social media (@creekusj) or email us at [email protected] for more information.
