Weather vs Track and Field

Multiple track and field meets have been canceled this year due to weather. Through all of the snow and rain, it’s been hard to practice as well. A direct result of this is the athlete’s run times. They haven’t been on the up rise like previous years. Without the ability to practice, the athletes have failed to perfect their form and technique as they would have wanted to. The meets aren’t rescheduled for another time. The only two meets remaining are regionals and state.

Senior track star Javier Craft isn’t too happy with all the cancellations. He is upset, because he put in a lot of work in the off-season and has nothing to show for it. It is “unfortunate that [they] can’t put on for their school.” Says Craft.

The last meet to qualify for the State Championship took place on Thursday, May 12, 2016. Craft, among many other runners, has already qualified for the State Championship and hopes to improve his running times and jumping distances heading into the meet.
